What is Cutting and Sewing Knitwear?
As suggested by its name, cut and sew knitwear consists primarily of fabric materials that have been cut and sewn! The term can refer to both the act of cutting out the garment pieces from a larger piece of fabric as well as the process of putting those pieces together with stitches.
This technique can be used to create sweaters, shirts, pants, skirts, and even infant clothing. The advantage of cut and sew over traditional knitting techniques is that it allows for greater design flexibility; hence complex patterns or colours can be incorporated into the garment without having to worry about how they will line up when the pieces are sewn together!
However, there are a few things to keep in mind when working with cut and sew knitwear fabrics:
●First, because the panels are usually quite large, it is important to have a stable work surface on which to lay out your pattern pieces
●Second, you will need sharp scissors (or a rotary cutter) to avoid fraying edges
●Finally, take care not to stretch or distort the fabric while cutting or during assembly.
With these tips in mind, you'll be ready to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind garments that are sure to impress!
